Adam Ruppel
The president of Chico Racing and also it’s namesake, Adam aka Chico spent a week last summer volunteering for the BC Bike race, the better to get some experience and get reassurance that this would be our next big venture. A former National team rider, Adam’s been organizing events for 12 years and is excited to be riding more for 2008.

Sean Ruppel
Sean is the geographically-savvy engineer of Superfly Racing assisting with course preparations. Many days were spent in some wet spandex mapping out Crank the Shield, a course that promises to evolve and only get better. You’ll see Sean buzzing around the event ensuring the marshals are on track and that you find your way to the finish!

Matt Douglas
Matt will be working alongside Adam in the office making sure this event comes together seamlessly for participants. Matt hung up the cleats only a few seasons ago after many years as one of Ontario’s top riders.
Ted (Theodore Tugboat) Mcleod
Ted is our ardent head of safety, and is excited for the change of venue that this 3-day adventure brings. The rigors of a point-to-point event are a challenge for safety staff, but Ted is up to the task. Having volunteered at various adventure races and Chico events for the past 6 years, there’s no one more qualified to get you to the end safely.

Allan Hawley
Also known as timer Al, Allan will be responsible for timing your day-to-day efforts and ensure your time on the bike does not go unheralded. Al also volunteers on other behind the scenes activities and is an integral part of the Crank The Shield team.

Scott Holmes
Scott is a racer and president of the HBCC cycling club, and is enthusiastic about the format and excited to be part of the organizing team. Scott will be riding the entire course with Sean in the months’ leading up to the event, and will be heading out on the course some 2 hours before the racers to ensure the course is ready to ride.
