3-DAY MOUNTAIN BIKE STAGE RACE, September 14-16, 2012

Stage 1: September 14th, 2012

Haliburton Forest - Camp White Pine

Approx. 70 km Course

Crank 2012 Day 1

This is the day the real action begins. Participants can park at Haliburton Forest, where they’ll leave their vehicle for the duration of the event. Friday registration and race kit pick up will begin at 8:30 am and end at 10:30 am at which time there will be a meeting for all participants outlining the rules and ensuring everyone is equipped with the proper knowledge to get through the race.

The event will start at Haliburton Forest at 11:00 am and weave through dynamic, re-vamped singletrack, trails, and gravel roads to the spectacular hydro-cut.  Epic climbs and expansive scenery make way to a quick section of road, a welcome break to spin out the legs.  Riders then ride the backside of Sir Sam's, where private landowners have graciously allowed us to use their epic trails all the way to the finish at Camp White Pine!  There a 5km epilogue treats riders to some great on-site singletrack and flowy trail, designed by Superfly Racing! This day offers tons of excellent mountain biking and will be a great opening stage for Crank the Shield 2012!

Bike washing facilities will be signed, and a site map will point you in the direction of your cabin. After picking up your duffel bag of supplies, you may take a quick swim or shower before dinner starts at the mess hall at 6:30 pm.
