This is the day the real action begins. Participants can park at Haliburton Forest, where they’ll leave their vehicle for the duration of the event. Friday registration and race kit pick up will begin at 7:30 am and end at 10:00 am at which time there will be a meeting for all participants outlining the rules and ensuring everyone is equipped with the proper knowledge to get through the race. The ride will start at Haliburton Forest at 10:30 am southwest through singletrack, trails, and gravel roads to the end of the first stage at Camp Kandalore. This day offers tons of excellent mountain biking and was well received by 2009 participants. For 2010 expect some new mountain bike singletrack! Bike washing facilities will be signed, and a site map will point you in the direction of your cabin. After picking up your duffel bag of supplies, you may take a quick swim or shower before dinner starts at the mess hall at 5:30 pm. There will be two seatings for dinner - one at 5:30 pm and the other at 6:30 pm. |

"Thanks for a great experience. All the effort you all put in showed in the fact that everything ran so smooth. The bar has been set pretty high for other Mtb Stage Races. I am sure as word gets out there will be line ups to sign on for next year."
Jim Brogden - 2009 Participant
-
"Everything was absolutely perfect and spot on from the rider's perspective! From the bags and drop bags to the cabins, food, course markings, volunteers, course, etc - well it was one of the best ever."
Laurie Woodbury - 2009 Participant -
New - Crank The Shield offers a short course option with distances ranging between 50 to 60 km per day. It is still a tough ride but puts Crank within range for the average rider.

“Congratulations to the whole CTS team, as I rank this race (for course, accommodation, food,
Greg Andre-Barrett - 2009 Participant
volunteers, etc.) as tops on my list of completed races. The course was out of this world, including CTS trail, which I think is the best new single track I’ve ever ridden.”
